Why We Like It
You may have never considered hummus to be a sweet treat snack or dessert, and it may sound like a strange combination…trust us, this is worth trying! Blend Together:
- 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
- 1/4 cup light coconut milk (or milk of your choice, such as unsweetened almond milk, or skim or soy milk)
- 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp almond butter
- 3 dried dates (pits removed)
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
Add to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
(Add 1 more tablespoon of milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.)
Transfer hummus to a bowl.
Serve and Enjoy!
- 1 Tbsp chopped pecans (OPTIONAL)
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon (OPTIONAL)
Serve immediately or place in the refrigerator in a covered container until ready to serve. Add optional toppings if desired.
Enjoy with apple slices, pear slices, strawberries, bananas, or whole grain crackers.
