The Ultimate Quick & Easy Snack

Image of a street sign called "East St" along with the caption "Snack Ideas!"

We get it.  Life is busy, and having something you can throw together in just a few minutes can make all the difference – especially when you’re trying to stay on track with REAL food.

This was actually inspired by something my babysitter used to make when I was growing up.  So, rest assured this 100% kid approved!  It’s warm, comforting, and incredibly easy – the kind of thing you can throw together when you are short on time and need something nourishing and satisfying.

This would be ideal not just for a snack, but also for dinner on a busy weeknight.  And, these come out golden and crispy on the outside and soft and cheesy on the inside.  We haven’t tried freezing the leftovers because there never are any!

Check out our 3-minute video to see how easy this is to prepare!

Please share with us what you think!

Of course, we couldn’t resist a little fun on this APRIL FOOLS!  Would you expect anything less?!

While this IS a variation of what my babysitter used to make, it’s definitely not REAL food.  When you break it down, this combo contains:

  • Zero fiber
  • 86 total ingredients
  • Over 12,000 mg of sodium

Not exactly what we’re aiming for at Eat REAL America!

After recording the video (and having a good laugh), we enjoyed a really delicious meal including the Spring Inspired Cobb Salad and Portobello Reuben Sandwich (topped with a Beet Sauerkraut we picked up at our local farmers’ market).

Simple. Nourishing. Flavorful.  And loaded with a variety of PLANTS!

Having a Little Fun!

We love having fun – and we also love reminding you just how far food has drifted from what it should be.  REAL food doesn’t need a long list of ingredients, artificial flavors or preservatives, or sky-high sodium to taste amazing.

We apologize if we made anyone a little queasy!

We promise to get back to the REAL FOOD that we all love in next week’s coaching tip!

  1. OH MY GOODNESS!!! You got me. If you could have seen the look of disgust on my face the entire time I was watching this. . .🤢

  2. That was great – you should have seen my face when I saw you pull out the processed meat and processed cheese. I was shocked and thinking I wonder if Sonya saw this video 🙂 You really had me. Great job and yes it is disgusting to eat that but thanks for getting the point across.

  3. Oh my gosh! I was like what is going on! Sitting here laughing at my computer screen :)) Honestly, this would be great to just show people in your zoom meetings and Zonya’s, what people are really eating!

    • They just don’t know. It’s all FDA approved. Sold in stores. No warnings on the label. Advertisements everywhere of very healthy normal looking people eating it. AND… Everyone they know eats these foods. No wonder some people just don’t know. BUT WE ALL KNOW THE REAL TRUTH!!!!! YAY US!!!!!!!

  4. I was SO surprised that you’d share this recipe and kept thinking of ways it could be made healthier. Homemade bread dough, real cheese, healthier meat…you really fooled me!

  5. Hahaha. When you pulled out the crescent rolls I immediately wondered what the heck was going on!! As you continued, I kept wondering what in the world does Zonya think about this!!

    • AH HAA HAA HAA! I have the distinct privilege of previewing everything the Sunday before Krista sends it. And she had me too…but I will say…I was on to her…even at the crescent rolls!!!! SO STINKING FUNNY!

  6. This was such a work of art! You pulled this off so well Krista! “you learned from your baby sitter”. lol Loved the “be sure to get the one that says made with real cheese” and “40% less fat bacon bits” and the look on Scott’s face buying it! and so true…80 ingredients! OMG! This is NOT like when we say “eat 30 different plants per week”. Thanks for the laugh!

  7. Great one! But, I did know the minute the crescent roll made its debut. The whole thing just got better from there! Thanks for the chuckle! 😀
